So why does she say those horrible monsters are kind? Maybe it's because they ARE kind, kind to her. Think about what the painted world is. Sure, we have no solid proof on the who/what/when/where and whys of its creation, but is is safe to assume it is where all the abominations, rejects, and dangerous things were thrown. The disease-ridden undead, the dragon, those horribly disfigured and fused phalanxes, weapons and fanatical servants of Velka, and Priscilla herself, the half-dragon creation with the art of lifedrain; these are all things that were most likely thought of as unfit, unnatural, and dangerous to the outside world and to the gods themselves, so they were locked away. Now think of what Priscilla must have felt, being dropped into this horrible place. She was a child when she was sent there, as the peculiar doll's item description states, and whatever theories you subscribe to on her parentage, she must not have had much and/or very long of a family life. So dropped into this world of outcasts, she took pity on them, being unwanted and unloved herself, and became a sort of mother to the horrible creatures that live in the painting.
Self-inquiry is the principal method to remove ignorance, increase self-awareness, and abide in a tranquil existence" "Mankind must live in a harmony with one another in order to have a peaceful world. " "In a world in which the common rule which binds and regulates what the general masses feel is undermined, what the general masses feel tend to become the common rule. " Ernest Agyemang Yeboah "The goal of any spiritual person is to strive towards attaining self-realization by living spontaneously in the present moment of physical reality, free from anxiety and distress, unencumbered by frivolous affections, and liberated from specious attachments. " "I choose peace, over things I might hear about others, if I put my ear close to the wind! " Kamini Arichandran "Let us know our differences! Let us understand our differences! Let us know and understand that we are all different people with different differences! We all have different differences that are not all that different! Understanding is the matter!
Citizenship "Nonviolence is an intensely active force when properly understood and used. " – Mohandas Gandhi Peaceful stances against unequal civil rights have been successful throughout history and nonviolent movements can lead to meaningful systemic change. Reflecting back on several landmark moments can act as a guide for action in these tumultuous times to gain equality for all lives in society. Take Action: Check Your Voter Registration Status With 'Just Vote' Here Here are five peaceful protests which led to positive social, and political changes. The Salt March During the transition between the wet to dry season of 1930 Mahatma (Mohandas) Gandhi led a peaceful protest against Britain's imposed law dictating no Indian could collect or sell salt in the country. Followed by dozens, Gandhi walked over 240 miles leading protesters to the Arabian Sea to pick up a small handful of salt out of the muddy waters of the sea. Seventeen years later, after this peaceful yet defiant act, India gained independence from Britain.

And in return, they protected their savior from all those who came to their world looking to steal her power. Over time, though, those diseased and disfigured monsters eventually went hollow. Perhaps the one thing they kept with them is the memory of the 'mother' who looked after them when no one else would. This memory, whether or not it still remains in the hollowed minds of the Painted World's occupants, forged their singular and mindless purpose: to destroy all who come here and try to hurt their mother. This adds a possible explanation for why Priscilla doesn't leave the Painted World, even though the exit is right behind her; she won't abandon her children just as they will continue to fight for her safety. It is also worth noting, that From has a tendency to carry over weapons, ideas, character archetypes, and plot points from game to game (the amount of parallels between DeS and DS is huge), and that Priscilla's situation parallels somewhat Maiden Astraea's. She too watches over the plague-ridden and outcast in the Valley of Defilement, and acts as a sort of mother to the inhabitants as well.
Anyway, that's my theory, I'd love to hear what you guys think, and I'd love to start some discussion on Priscilla's lore, as I don't think it comes up enough.
"I am convinced that the truest act of courage, the strongest act of humanity, is to sacrifice ourselves for others in a totally non violent struggle for justice. " - Cesar Chavez Montgomery Bus Boycott There are times when one person's peaceful actions can bring about more change than anyone can imagine. Rosa Parks' refusal to give up her seat to a white passenger on a bus in Montgomery, Ala., is one such example. Her defiant act symbolized greater civil rights, spreading the message that all people deserve equal seats. The U. S. Supreme Court ruled a year later in 1956, segregation on public buses unconstitutional. "People always say that I didn't give up my seat because I was tired, but that isn't true. I was not tired physically, or no more tired than I usually was at the end of a working day. I was not old, although some people have an image of me as being old then. I was forty-two. No, the only tired I was, was tired of giving in. " — Rosa Parks Singing Revolution The Tallinn Song Festival Grounds where the Singing Revolution took place still bring people together for music and change.
