It's wonderful Sunday music, or for a nice drive through the country. I also listen to it whenever I need to calm down. It's very soothing and still wistful at times. I was so very pleased with this purchase. Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2020 Verified Purchase Was actually really excited when I bought this. When I listened, not too impressed. I sure remembered the songs as being better than they were. Have donated this now. Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2016 Verified Purchase Alan Silvestri writes some of the most beautiful music. This is a nice collection. The Forest Gump theme and Everything About You (different album What WomanWant) are two of the most emotional songs I have ever heard. Soft and very sweet. Reviewed in the United States on May 10, 2018 Verified Purchase I bought this one of the score and also the "music from" CD with all the great music from my was a great buy! Top reviews from other countries 5. 0 out of 5 stars... was cheap and I knew the first track was good.
It includes an insert too. Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2014 Verified Purchase Even though the soundtrack most associated with the 1994 classic Forrest Gump was largely billed as the double-CD set containing the songbook of America that was featured in the film with songs ranging back from Elvis Presley to Pete Seager, the instrumental score by Alan Sylvestri is, as far as I can tell, still considered the iconic musical memory from that movie. The soft play of the piano to kick off the floating white feather as seen as we are introduced to Mr. Gump, and then the soft entrance of the orchestra stress the indelible simplicity with which Forrest sees the world. As the whirlwind of the 1960s and 1970s continues, with Forrest's improbable insertion into just about every historically significant event of those turbulent times, Silvestri's music accompanies him as he runs from bullies, scores touchdowns for Alabama, serves in Vietnam, and ushers in soft words of advice to Lieutenant Dan, whom he befriends.

Reviewed in the United States on May 26, 2019 Verified Purchase This score is so damn inspiring, just like the movie. Alan Silvestri has so many incredible scores (Back to the Future, Avengers, etc) but there is a reason why he won an award for this one. Listening to a score on record is such a treat after hearing it 'in the background' of a film and hearing all the dynamic range of the orchestra is transcendent. You relive all of the emotions of watching the original film, and experience new ones. So good... As for the quality of the record and the packaging, I didn't expect it to come in a heavy-duty sleeve! It's nice for protection but it's hard to get out at first as the glossy finish on the record jacket sticks to the inside f the plastic sleeve. You need to slide your hand into the back and front sides to separate them a bit then you can pull it out. Still, it was a nice surprise!
